MedPrep students have at their disposal over 1000 pages worth of online review materials and simulated GAMSAT practice items. Apart from the introductory session, each audiovisual lesson lasts several hours for a total of 10 separate lessons. The pace of lessons is brisk, including both thorough conceptual review of relevant theory and extensive problem solving practice. There is a lot of material to cover so lessons can be paused, rewound, and replayed. The organisation of the course encourages students to spend additional time reviewing their own notes, working on the homework questions, or reading ahead for the next lesson. Performing optimally on GAMSAT requires not only excellent cognitive and communications skills, but also tactical and strategic acumen. MedPrep’s Virtual Live GAMSAT Preparation Course contains three online Test-Taking Strategy Documents, one for each section of GAMSAT. Tactics that may work in one section may not in another. Score enhancement is achieved through shrewd time management, intelligent speculation, logistical exploitation, and the insight that emerges from drill.
The online instructor will present the relevant GAMSAT sciences material in conceptual, graphical and equation -orientated formats. MedPrep uses simulated GAMSAT questions and passages to illustrate the concepts being covered in each lesson, and to test students on topics covered in previous lessons. Because a growing number of arts students are sitting the GAMSAT, we have constructed our course and each individual online science session to begin with basic concepts and then move on to more elaborate topics. The online instructor will demonstrate that this section of the GAMSAT, surprisingly, is almost formulaic. If you know the formula—what is being assessed and how—it is virtually impossible not to succeed on the essays. Without the formula, however, students often write genuinely coherent and insightful essays by a different standard, only to fail this section of the GAMSAT.
After demystifying the criteria of assessment for both the argumentative and discursive types of GAMSAT essay questions, MedPrep’s 60 pages worth of Written Communication online course materials go on to advance an astute essay-writing methodology that has produced exceptional results for generations of MedPrep students.
